Courses and duration
The Bachelor of Theology can be seen as a continuation of the Diploma Programme. After a completed Diploma, students need 81 credit hours to successfully complete the BA programme.
The BA programme requires additional 27 unit core each of which is 3 credit hours. It is put together by 24 core courses plus a major, which counts for 3 courses.
Duration of the programme for residential students is 18 months.
An appropriate accredited Diploma or its equivalent with not less than 60 credits, 30 of which are supposed to be Biblical or Theological courses done at a residential college.
Required courses are:
Four leadership courses
Four Educational courses
Four Theology courses
Four Biblical courses
Two Communication courses
Two Intercultural courses
Two General Courses
Exams: Written exam for each course, plus one thesis
Each of the 24 courses have specific goals such as enabling the student to know all the central teachings of the Bible, doing observations in a Bible text, conducting a basic kind of exegesis, learning how to lead by example etc.
Likewise the programme gives opportunity for field research, which is most important because many of the students will need experience in this kind of data collection for their final thesis.
Each lecturer has the freedom to choose a teaching strategy he / she find relevant and effective. So during the programme the students will be exposed to a mixture of lecturing, group discussions, project teaching, supervised research etc.
Level of Qualification
The Bachelor’s Programme is classified as ZQF level 7
All BA courses are concluded by a written exam or an assignment.
Pass criteria is 60% or above.
The exams are marked by the Lecturer, and our academic dean is overseeing the procedures and acting as a moderator.
The thesis is expected to observe international standards for academic writing.
The exam results are kept in a locked cupboard at the academic office
